In this video, we're going to take a look at the basic structure of our Read & Select Scenario Storyline template, and how to make simple edits like changing text in the file. First let's look at the structure.
This is a single-screen template that presents a scenario and three choices to the user. Then, provides supplemental information; and, finally feedback, based on that choice.
The main scenario—or introductory content, however you choose to use it—is available on the main layer. To edit the content on this layer, simply select a text box and edit at will.
To edit the images used in this file, right click and select new. You may also choose to edit the style of these images. To do so, you'll need to edit each state (using the Edit States pane) individually. All three states use overlays to style the image(s). Select this overlay and adjust its fill, or delete as necessary.
In addition to the main layer, we use three content layers to provide supporting information specific to the user's selection on the previous scenario screen. Supplemental content text and the text shown on the select buttons of these layers can all be edited by clicking the visible text boxes.
Final feedback can be edited by selecting the Feedback object and editing its states as desired via the States pane. Note that the feedback icons used in this file are custom shapes, not images. Change their color/style using Storyline's standard formatting options.
In this template, the number of buttons is fixed to 3. If you need to remove a button, simply disable it in the main timeline, drag off stage, or delete.
